I thought it was clever how Hamlet used the play he put on to find out how Claudius would react to a situation similar to the horrible deed Claudius has committed. Hamlet had received the reaction he was seeking out of Claudius when he leaves the play saying, “Give me some light! Away!” (Page 94 Line 281). Once again Hamlet is very brilliant and witty, which are traits he uses to observe what he needs in order to gain revenge. Claudius’ reaction to the play just goes to prove his guilt in the killing of Hamlet’s father. I also think Hamlet used the play as a joke for himself just to upset Claudius. The only problem with the play is now Claudius may know that Hamlet knows the truth about the death of his father and that he needs to be aware of what is to come from Hamlet. Claudius sending Hamlet to England may be a way to get rid of Hamlet “And he to England shall along with you” (Page 100 Line 4). The fact that Claudius may need to be more aware of what is going on with Hamlet may cause more spying and more dishonesty among the characters. Dishonesty can only lead to more trouble in Denmark. Hamlet may have put himself in a tough position with the play, but he learned the guilt of Claudius from it.
