I predict that Hamlet's fake madness will end up being one of the reasons for his downfall. I believe this because everyone is turning against him, even his mother and uncle. His uncle says, "Thus set it down: he shall with speed to England For the demand our neglected tribute"(Act III, Scene 1, Lines 170-174). By sending him to England, Hamlet will have to say in anything that takes place in Elsinore. His own fake madness is going to ruin everything that he has going for him in Elsinore. His madness has also lead him to acting on impulse. In scene four he kills Polonius. He drew his sword and said, "How now! a rat? Dead for a ducat, dead" (Act III, Scene 4, Line 25). Hamlet killed Polonius without even thinking about it which helps support my earlier post that said his impulsiveness will also be his downfall. Eventually murdering Polonius will come back to haunt Hamlet.
