In act 3 Hamlet is portrayed as a diabolical genius. I however think that Hamlet is just mad. He has succumbed to his thirst for revenge. When he kills Polonius he does not feel an once of guilt. He even continues a conversation with his mother like nothing has happened. He is even over-joyed when he first kills the person because he believes it to be Claudius. Hamlet is not a hero on a quest to avenge his father's death; he is a cold-blooded killer.
