In act 4 i was extremely surprised when Hamlet sent to England with no consequences for killing Polonius. Hamlet killed a close friend and confidant of the king yet Hamlet was not punished. Hamlet even goes as far as to make jokes about killing Polonius when Claudius asks where he is. Hamlet seems to be using the death of Polonius as a threat to the king when Hamlet is asked where Polonius is " Your fat king and your lean beggar (Polonius) is but variable service -two dishes, but to one table. That's the end." (Scene 3, 24) Hamlet is telling the king that his fate will be the same as Polonius. Hamlet will kill him but by another means than how Polonius was killed.
