The story did not end how I thought it would. I figured that Laertes and Claudius would die because they had it coming. Hamlet had been sought after for a while so I knew he would die at the end. Gertrude's death shocked me. Out of all the people in the play Gertrude seemed the most level-headed. She of course had her break down moments, but I did not think she would die. Almost everyone else in the story made terribly huge mistakes and had mean intentions. The only mistake Gertrude made was marrying Claudius and in Gertrude's eyes that was not a mistake at all. So her being one of the most spotless characters in the story makes her death seem a little unfair.
