This last act really shows Hamlet’s inner emotions and lets us know what was truly going on inside his head the whole time. In scene one, we learn that he did truly love Ophelia like crazy. He definitely was not just putting on a show since he even jumped into her grave with her body when he learned who it was who had died. Also, we learn more about just how good of friends Hamlet and Horatio had been, seeing as he still followed Hamlet even after seeing just how upset he had been when learning of Ophelia’s death. He also is the one who stands by Hamlet’s side as he is dying, so we know they were probably very close since Hamlet also told him his final wishes. It is also made very clear that Hamlet was not going after the power when thinking of avenging his father’s death, since he gave his power to Fortinbras as he died. I thought this play ended completely unexpected. I would have never thought that basically everyone would die during a fencing match. Not what I expected.
