Act V of Hamlet concludes many of the problems faced within the play. Throughout the entire play Hamlet's goal has been to avenge his father's death. In a way Hamlet does accomplish this, but not without facing consequences. He succeeds in killing Claudius, his father's murderer, by forcing him to drink the poison. Even Laertes agrees that Claudius was wrong in all of his actions. Shortly after he killed Claudius Hamlet himself died. Hamlet essentially died because he was trying to avenge his father's death. Had it not been for Claudius killing Hamlet Sr. none of the other events within the play would have occurred. In finding out what Claudius had done, Hamlet set a plan. He acted mad throughout the entire play, as to confuse the people. Hamlet killed Polonius in a fit of unease. Polonius's death leads to Ophelia going crazy and killing herself. Hamlet Sr.'s murder led to the rest of the death within the play. If Hamlet had not tried to avenge his father's death many lives would have been spared. The quest for power and revenge led to the many deaths within the play.
