The novel, A Tale of Two Cities, by Charles Dickens, is a novel that has a topical/historical approach. This novel takes place during the late 18th century at the start of the American revolution and through the years of the French revolution. Charles Dickens has his characters living through these rough times as well as being involved with most of the historical aspects of these times. Charles Dickens also shows that during these times how crazy some things got when it came to political, as well as regular everyday life was during this time. During the American revolution Charles Darnay, A character in the story, is on trial for committing treason against England. This same character is put on trial during the French revolution for a crime in which one of his ancestors, committed about ten years earlier and is sentenced to death for a crime he never committed. Charles Dickens makes this story not only just tell a story about his characters, but also shows his character live their everyday lives through these recorded times in history.

Good job pointing out some of the historical parallels of this novel. The historical setting is certainly an important part of "A Tale of Two Cities".
