I was surprised when Polonius told Reynaldo to spy on Laertes in France. Poloinus sends Reynaldo to "make inquire of his behavior" (Line 4). Polonius sends him to see if Laertes is "Gaming..or drinking, fencing, swearing, quareling, Drabbing" (Lines 24-26). By doing this Poloinus is seen as a very sneaky character. He gave no reason as to why he sent Reynaldo to spy on his son. With this, I believe Polonius is trying to find a way to dishonor his own son's name. Polonius sneakiness can also be seen in Act I when he tells his daughter, Ophelia, to not spend any more time with Hamlet. Polonius said to her, "I would not, in plain terms, from this time forth Have you go glander any moment lleisure As to give words or talk with the Lord Hamlet" (Act I lines 132-134). There was also no motive as to why Polonius does not want his daughter speaking with Hamlet. With this, I predict that Polonius is controlling and sneaky because he, himself, is trying to gain power within Denmark.
