All throughout the play the reader can see how Ophelia is literaly a weak character. She obeys Polonius's commands to stop seeing Hamlet even though deep down, Hamlet is truly the person she wants. After Hamlet kills Polonius, Ophelia kills herself. Even though this would be an extremely devastating situation for anyone to go through, it shows that Ophelia is weak because she takes the easy way out and kills herself. The pain is too much for her to bear unlike her brother Laertes, who wants revenge and plots with King Claudius to kill Hamlet. When i first read the scene where Hamlet kills Polonius, I predicted forsure that Ophelia would be in on a plot to get revenge on Hamlet. However, Ophelia stayed true to her weakness as a character and killed herself.
